Sustainability
The energy has to arrive safely.
Our responsibility runs from the loading arm to the discharge line, and from the people on our vessels to the communities beside our terminals.
Our approach
Honest about what we do.
We trade hydrocarbons. They power hospitals, factories, farms and the ships that carry the world's food — and burning them has a cost. We would rather say that plainly than dress the business up as something it is not.
What we can control is how responsibly this energy is handled and how quickly we help our customers move to lower-carbon alternatives where those alternatives genuinely work. Both matter, and neither is served by overstatement.
Our approach rests on three commitments: operate safely, trade cleanly, and build a real low-carbon book rather than an advertised one.
Health, safety, security & environment
Nothing we trade is worth an injury.
Cargo operations involve flammable products, high-pressure transfers and vessels in congested waters. The controls have to be in place before the cargo moves, not after something goes wrong.
Vessel vetting
Every vessel we charter is screened for age, class, inspection history and operator record before fixture. A poor safety record disqualifies a ship regardless of the freight rate.
Terminal & transfer safety
Loading and discharge follow agreed ship-shore checklists, with independent inspectors present and clear stop-work authority for anyone who sees a hazard.
Product stewardship
Safety data sheets, correct dangerous-goods classification and handling guidance travel with every cargo, so the receiver knows exactly what is arriving.
Spill prevention & response
We contract with operators and terminals that maintain tested response plans, and we require containment arrangements to be confirmed before transfer begins.
Incident reporting
Near-misses are reported and reviewed, not buried. The point of the record is to change what we do next time, which only works if people can raise things without fear.
Local compliance
Port, environmental and customs requirements differ at every terminal we use. We work with local agents to meet them properly rather than treating them as paperwork.
Energy transition
Building the low-carbon book.
Our customers' obligations are changing faster than their supply chains are. Blending mandates, emissions reporting and fuel regulations are arriving on fixed timetables, and a supplier who cannot meet them becomes a liability.
We are positioning to be on the right side of that. Certified biodiesel and blend components, ethanol, and waste-derived feedstocks such as used cooking oil are a growing part of what we trade — supplied with the chain-of-custody documentation that makes them count against a customer's obligation.
In marine fuels, we supply the compliant grades that emissions rules require, and we talk to owners about what is coming rather than only what is mandated today.
We are deliberately not making long-horizon net-zero claims we have no means of verifying. What we will commit to is this: where a lower-carbon product genuinely works for a customer's application and economics, we will source it, and we will be straight about the cases where it does not yet.
People & community
Where we operate, we belong.
A trading business is a small number of people making consequential decisions. Getting that right starts with who we hire and how we treat them.
- Omani talent and In-Country Value. We are an Omani business and we intend to build careers here — developing national talent into trading, operations and risk roles rather than importing every senior hire.
- Fair and safe employment. Clear terms, safe working conditions, and zero tolerance for harassment or discrimination anywhere in our business.
- Human rights in the supply chain. We expect the terminals, agents and shipowners we work with to uphold decent labour standards, and we will end relationships where they do not.
- Local partners. Where local suppliers and service providers can do the work well, we prefer them.
In practice
What we hold ourselves to.
-
01
We will not trade a cargo we cannot move safely
If the vessel, the terminal or the handling arrangement does not meet our standard, the trade does not happen — whatever the margin.
-
02
We will not knowingly deal in sanctioned or illicit product
Origin, ownership and vessel history are screened before every fixture. Where we cannot establish provenance, we decline.
-
03
We will state emissions and certification accurately
Sustainability claims travel with documentation that supports them. We do not sell a green label we cannot evidence.
-
04
We will report incidents honestly
Internally and to the relevant authorities, promptly, including when the fault is ours.
